Caridad Barragan su Verni.io

Comments (0) art, barragan paintings, daily painting, oil painting, painting in italy, still-life, umbria blog

Verni.io is a different artist website.  Up until now, art platforms worked like virtual art galleries where artists could showcase their work and the platform would take a fee from any sales made through them.  These platforms have gotten big, clogged up and well, it’s difficult to get found.

Verni.io has other ambitions.  It seeks to connect collectors and artists not just virtually but having potential collectors visit the artist’s studio and buy directly from them.  So let’s say you’re visiting a major city or perhaps a farm town (us artists like the boonies!).  You can log on to verni.io, enter your location to see which artists are near you, contact them and ask to visit they’re studio.  It’s as easy as that.

I find this approach humanizing and a great way to meet local artists or international artists like me in their own personal creative space.

I’m on Verni as Caridad Barragan  so if you’re passing through Umbria on your way to Rome or Florence, get in touch with me through the platform and come up for a cuppa coffee or tea and visit my studio.

Indovinate cosa ho dipinto oggi?

Comments (0) barragan paintings, daily painting, painting in italy, Senza categoria, umbria blog

Comments (0) daily painting, italy, still-life, umbria blog

DSCN2822

Schermata 2015-09-04 a 16.51.16

Schermata 2015-09-04 a 16.52.56

Ogni cartolina:
– misure 5 x 6 in. – 10 x 15 cm.
– è stampato su carta di alta qualità di 300 gr.
– viene impachettato come confezione regalo.

About these Paintings
Thes paintings were painted “alla prima” from life — in one single sitting in Umbria, Italy. Each mark of paint is applied wet-into-wet and remains visible in the painting’s finished state. These paintings are painted with professional grade Italian oil colors on an oil primed surface. They will arrive varnished and unframed, ready to display.

Just like you, I enjoy finding and marveling at apparently insignificant things such as wildflowers picked on a morning walk, a local fruit right out of an orchard, or an Italian landscape especially at sunset when the colors warm up.
I love simplicity & quality and embed these values in my paintings by using only the finest Italian oil paints and supports.  When you purchase a Barragan Painting you’re buying a timeless original that will last for generations.

January Painting a Day Project

Comments (0) barragan paintings, daily painting, dipinto olio, flower paintings for sale, painting in italy, painting workshop, still life for sale, still life fruit painting

n. 1, Pink Lady Apple

*versione italiano in basso
I hadn’t painted in 10 years when in February 2012 I decided to pick up my brushes, inspired by Duane Kaiser and his Daily Painting Movement.

I needed discipline and the idea of painting a small painting every day was exactly what I needed to get back in the saddle.

Needless to say it was incredibly difficult at the beginning.  Can you imagine what it would be like if you hadn’t spoken for 10 years? What would your first words sound like?

I would spend hours trying to put to paint the humble object I had in front of me, every day.  It was like an appointment I had with myself.  I’m a very hardheaded person and was ultimately determined to paint my still life so it resembled the actual fruit or flower before me.  It took months and so many hours.

I’ve decided to start 2015 with a Daily Painting Project for the month of January knowing that it will help me concentrate and focus my energy on upcoming projects. I will be posting a new painting to this blogpost every day so stay tuned!

Have you ever done a daily project of any kind?  I’d love to hear about it.
Please share & leave a comment below.
Thank you!

Grazie!
